Get back your MOJO

Getting back your MOJO when life gets busy, stressful and demanding can be a difficult task. Here are some simple tips that can help you regain control.....

We are 180 days down and only 2820 days to go on our 3000 day journey to financial independence....that is 6 months already, wow!

It has been over a month since we posted last...geez we are slack, but to tell you the truth, life simply got on top of us.

We having been busy juggling the usual life stresses that we all go through, however this last month seems to have been like a stress super storm, all converging at one time to rain down on us. We have been juggling the following:

  • Building a house - with a house hack (to be discussed in a future post).
  • Mr 3000 received a slight promotion at work which has added extra workload, however most likely (and hopefully) extra salary come review time.
  • We have been searching for a school for our son.
  • Mrs 3000 has been pursuing a potential career change and has been busy completing some additional qualifications (also to be discussed in a future post).
  • Plus, we had a really bad savings month for May 2018. ZERO saved...ouch. This was mainly due to some yearly expenses all coming due at the one time, however we still had a decent quarter which we will cover off in our quarterly summary.

So all these factors came together at the same time, so unfortunately this blog and our side hustle were somewhat neglected.

It was great to see the blog has still been getting some decent traffic and we have had a large number of new subscribers, so welcome all.

So how did we get back our MOJO?

Firstly, for those that don't know what MOJO is, here is one definition we really like from www.dictionary.cambridge.org:  MOJO: A quality that attracts people to you and makes you successful and full of energy.

Today we would like to focus on the "full of energy" part as that is what we have been struggling with over the last month. So here are some tips on getting your MOJO back.

Tip 1 - Wake up earlier and get stuff done:

This is by far the best life hack that we have discovered so far. I personally aim to wake up 1 hour earlier than I need to...roughly between 4:00am and 4:30am. Yes you read this right. This extra time allows us the opportunity to write blog articles, work on our side hustle, do some exercise, meditate or do something else productive or something that we enjoy.

Tip 2 - Say NO:

Another great tip is to not automatically say yes to everything that comes your way. Being open to things can make for a fun life, however some events can be a complete waste of time. So prioritise what is a important in your life and learn to say no when you have other priorities. A great example is Friday work drinks - you have already spent 40+ hours at work this week, unless you get great value out of this, why on earth would you want spend more time there?

Tip 3 - Meditate:

You will hear this tip a lot, and it is an easy one to dismiss. However we have seen some amazing benefits to maintaining a meditation routine. Meditation helps to calm you and your mind. It helps you regain control of your emotions, especially your anger and it reduces stress.

Tip 4 - Maintain balance:

This is difficult to do at times, however maintaining balance in your life is very important. A good mix of work, play, relaxation, family time, alone time, outdoor time and socialising. Find what elements work for you and try and maintain this balance each week.

Tip 5 - Get out in the sun:

This has an almost instant effect. If you are feeling unmotivated, down, flat and low in energy, then step outside and into the sun. Try to get out in sunlight for at least 15 - 20 minutes every day. This promotes serotonin release (which lifts your mood) and heightens melatonin production which is needed for quality sleep, mood stability, adrenal health and healthy immunity – all crucial to maintaining  and restoring your MOJO!

In summary, keeping energised and maintaining your MOJO can be difficult. However hopefully these simple steps can help you along the way.

Cheers, Mr 3000
